Master Programs in Planetary Geosciences
A number of Masters in Astrophysics and Astronomy, in Earth Sciences and in Space Sciences exist in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA). Space missions present multiple objectives that can be achieved only through a full multidisciplinary expertise, so the benefits from space exploration programmes can be largely increased by developing university programmes specifically designed and anchored on a combined and multidisciplinary research expertise.
To promote the teaching and training in Planetary Geosciences at the level of master courses, the GeoPlaNet consortium has been taking advantage of the teaching and research experience existing in the universities of Coimbra, Porto, Nantes, Chieti and Pescara, and Padova:
- at University of Coimbra, the MSc in Astrophysics and Space Instrumentation
- at Nantes Université, the International MSc in Planetary Geosciences
- at University Gabriele d’Annunzio, the MSc in Earth and Planetary Geology Sciences and Technologies
- at these three universities, the new Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Program in Planetary Geosciences, which opens in September 2023
